Elon Musk is the owner of an AI company called xAI, which aims to minimize the risks from artificial intelligence. Although no official product has been introduced yet, many of the famous billionaire’s statements are alarming about AI.
In a recent interview, Musk stated that AI has the potential to destroy civilization if not managed properly. The CEO of Twitter and Tesla is very interested in the development of these technologies, but he is not sure whether they will provide a useful future.
“Artificial intelligence is more dangerous than, for example, mismanaged airplane design or production maintenance or bad car manufacturing. Because it has the potential – no matter how small that possibility is – to destroy civilization.”
Musk’s xAI initiative aims to address these concerns directly. Musk, who has recruited top researchers and engineers from companies such as DeepMind, OpenAI, Google and Microsoft, wants to investigate physics, cosmology and human existence with xAI.
Tesla CEO also reported that regulators need to take action. “A regulatory body needs to be a group that seeks information about AI, then asks for industry input and proposes rulemaking,” he said.
